The SONS Exhibition Travels To The Flint Institute Arts

On 23 January 2022,  the critically acclaimed traveling exhibition SONS: SEEING THE MODERN AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE will open at Flint Institute Of Arts.  This will be the sixth installation of the critically acclaimed exhibition since it premiered in January 2016 at the African American Museum of Nassau County on Long Island  New York. SONS is a timely and relevant exhibition that employs still and moving imagery to compel visitors to consider issues such as race, perception and the African American Male experience.

Photographer Jerry Taliaferro will travel to Flint to produce still images and video of 50 local African American males who will be the subjects of the exhibition.  The use of local subjects to enhance community involvement and relevancy is a hallmark of this powerful exhibition.
